Client: City of Joondalup

Since the construction of the Hillarys Boat Harbour (HBH), sand has been accreting at Sorrento Beach to the south of the HBH and causing erosion of the shoreline to the north of the HBH.

This project required the extraction of approximately 10,000 m3 (bank volume) of sand from the area south of HBH at Sorrento Beach and the transportation of this extracted sand to Hillarys Beach on the northern side of HBH.

  • Extraction of 10,000m3 sand from Sorrento Beach
  • Stockpile of sand to allow excavator to load sand into trucks
  • Transport of sand using narrow access equipment via approved route to North Hillary’s Beach
  • Spread sand and shape to final tolerance levels
  • Dust suppression
